Carling Cup - The Quarter Finals

As promised, here's our view on the Carling Cup ties to be played on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th of November, the quarter-finals of the competition. While this has traditionally been a tournament with a decreasing about of interest in it from the big clubs, you can be sure that there are some great games this week. Premiership leaders Manchester City face in-form Arsenal at the Emirates, and Chelsea face Liverpool at home, a fixture which the Reds won just a few weeks ago. Two huge games, and throw into the mix Cardiff vs Blackburn and Manchester United - Crystal Palace, and you've got yourself a cracking week of football. There's also a handful of Championship and League One games, and some Europa League action.

Our tips? We think Man City at 2.4 are a decent bet to reach the last 4. With both sides set to play weakened teams, you have to feel that City's second string will have far too much power for their Arsenal counterparts. Chelsea would be our tip, due to the home advantage, although it's a tough one to call. They are at 1.9. Manchester United will surely win their home tie against lower division opposition, and Blackburn will be expected to do the same. However, Cardiff are in great form (3rd in the Championship) and Steve Kean's men are rock bottom, and for that reason, the Bluebirds are the favourites. The draw over 90 minutes at 3.55 will be one to look at.

It's sure to be a great two nights of football, so do keep following it, and hopefully you win some money! We'll be back on Thursday with a sporting round-up, involving these games and the other news from around the world, before cracking on with this weekend's Premiership predictions. Thanks for reading.

Premiership Predictions - Week 12

It's almost all football these days on the sport front in England, with it the only one still in full flow and in the public eye. The Barclays Premiership returns this weekend, in it's 12th installment of the 2011/12 season, with all the internationals done for now. This weekend sees all the big guns in action, and a mouthwatering clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. This time, we've got all of TacticalBet's predictions for all the games on show in this round of fixtures, and a further look at our feature game, Chelsea vs Liverpool. Enjoy.

Norwich 1-2 Arsenal
1.74

Wigan 1-1 Blackburn
3.4

West Brom 1-1 Bolton
3.55

Sunderland 2-1 Fulham
2.46

Everton 2-1 Wolves
1.66

Stoke 2-0 QPR
1.88

Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle
1.34

Swansea 0-3 Manchester United
1.55

Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool
3.65

Our feature game, and in a season of crazy and unexpected results, who would be against there being plenty of goals? You would be a brave man to bet against it. Torres will be key against his old club, with Chelsea hoping he can find the net. More important will be both defences, Terry and Carragher both will have to be at their best to keep their skilful opponents under wraps. Chelsea have been horribly open in their other games against the bigger teams, will AVB change his approach? If not, Suarez and Carroll could pounce. A 2-2 correct score is at almost 18/1, whereas a bore fest 0-0 draw is lower at 13's. Where's your money?

Tottenham 2-0 Aston Villa
1.58

Thanks for reading, and best of luck to all those betting on any football games this weekend!

TacticalBet's prediction : England 1-3 Spain

World and European Champions Spain should have too much for hosts England in this clash, as shown by our prediction. However, that isn't designed to completely rule out a home win, it just looks very unlikely. It's live on ITV 1, so make sure to catch it there. In terms of other football, Scotland face off against Cyprus in another friendly, and Wales play Norway. There's a raft of qualifiers, all huge games, and Ireland have their game tonight against Estonia, the first leg in Tallin. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the football.

Wednesday's Football - Round Up

If you see below you can re-live all the action as it happened and unravelled on another fascinating evening of football in both the Champions League and the Championship. Here, it's TacticalBet's customary round up.

Man United 2-0 Otelul Galati

Not as comfortable as they would have wanted, but it's mission accomplished. Coupled with Benfica drawing, United top the group on goal difference. Valencia and Rooney with the goals, although the latter may later be a own goal. Ferguson can go home a happy man.

Villarreal 0-3 Man City

The dream performance for City, back to back wins in this format for them. Toure struck twice with two nice finishes, and Balotelli scores his 7th in 7 games from the spot. They go second in the group, 3 points behind the leader and 2 ahead of the challenger. Naples up next, and it's a make or break game against Napoli to set up who's going to go through.

Other results involved Munich winning, Inter and Real Madrid with easy victories, and a few other results in there involving Ajax, Benfica and CSKA. Cardiff and Blackpool recorded thumping wins away from home in the Champions League.

We'll be back before this weekend with the usual predictions. It was 70% success rate last weekend, so hopefully we can replicate that and you can win some money! Thanks for reading, and all your contributions are as always, greatly appreciated.

Live Text : Wednesday's Football - The Second Halves

21-43 : So that is that for tonight, thanks once again for your excellent contributions. It's been another good night of football, and we hope you've enjoyed it and won some money! While Lille let us down, we did predict Basel to snatch a point over Benfica, so it's not all winning but it's a start! Round up on the way, thank you and goodnight.

21-41 : Much more productive night tonight for English sides, and a few cracking goals flying in across the games. A thriller in Munich, a Dutch demolition by Ajax and Madrid moving through with two games to spare, with a host of other results too. Check back to the page later for the round up!

21-39 : And we're now done in all games. No more goals went in, so it's as we were. Inter hold on, Benfica held by Basel as predicted by TacticalBet, and Madrid, Munich and Ajax also winning.

21-38 : Game over now in Spain, an extremely comfortable 3-0 win for City. They'll be delighted with that, and rightly so. They have 7 points, Munich 10, so it's almost a straight fight between them and Napoli, who have 5 points themselves.

21-37 : Trabzonspor have drawn against CSKA 0-0, a game we didn't mention due to its obvious lack of goals.

21-35 : United have won, 2-0. Not the perfect performance they'll have wanted, by a win is a win and they can top their group tonight. Ajax add a fourth before full time.

21-34 : Literally nothing happening in Spain, City have shut this game down very effectively. As I type that, a Villarreal player falls over himself in the corner.

21-33 : Lille 6.6 to nab a late draw in Italy now.

21-31 : Wilkins does it again seconds later, will somebody please stop him saying that phrase! Goals going in late on, Lille pull one back at Inter, and Blackpool are now winning 5-0 at Leeds. Wow.

21-30 : That one may end up as an own goal, by the way. For me, it's Rooney's goal though. Ray Wilkins says 'my word' for the 100th time on Sky tonight, as Rooney goes close again.

21-30 : Goal! United have sealed it, game over. Rooney drives one in from a distance, but it's going straight to the keeper... Deflected and in. How cruel, Sarghi the offender. Job done for United, but Galati have fought so hard and that will sting a little.

21-28 : Final change for Villarreal, but to be honest their lights went out a long time ago.

21-27 : City just cruising to a win here, and a good one at that. Not much occuring in the last few minutes though, and with 8 left to play, Mancini and his men can relax now and turn their attentions to the weekend game against QPR. Lots of you saying on Twitter you'd love a Rooney-Cleverly combination in midfield.

21-24 : It's not been vintage United, but they still lead and that's all that matters. Cardiff have a third at Derby, and Napoli have another one back! 8.8 to complete the comeback and draw that game against Bayern.

21-24 : To no avail, again a pass goes astray and it breaks down. Galati now go close, a free kick just needing a touch... But there is none and De Gea collects low down.

21-23 : Having boldly said it was 'cranking up' minutes ago, it's almost died. The subs are dragging on and not a lot is happening. Here come United though...

21-21 : Subs in their numbers now, Park on at Old Trafford. Can he finish this off?

21-20 : Sandipan Chowdhury claims he's 'sure Berbatov will score before 90 minutes' is up, bold call given the Bulgarians finishing on show so far. Distinctly average.

21-18 : Madrid hit another, game over in Lyon. Ronaldo the man, 100th goal for the club. Here comes Aguero, on for Yaya Toure, who's impressive night is complete.

21-16 : It's cranking up a notch now all over as we enter the last 15 to 20 minutes. Berbatov wastes a good chance, we've heard that before tonight. The draw there remains 16.5...

21-15 : Delightful goal, City 3-0 up now. Balotelli leads a counter, before un-selfishly squaring to Toure, who's neat footwork and finish sees him bag a second goal. Game, set and match at El Madrigal.

21-15 : The six or seven somebody predicted earlier on Twitter just hasn't happened, and the Romanians keep impressing.

21-14 : Inter 2-0, Blackpool 4-0. Wins for them you would've thought now.

21-12 : Galati fire a free kick in, and it's dealt with by Rio Ferdinand. Balotelli involved again in Spain, winning a free kick of their own. No doubt about that one, scythed down as he strode forward.

21-11 : Basel are level! What did I say... Huggel netting, and in the Championship Cardiff have scored another, an own goal.

21-10 : Adam Johnson on, Silva off. The little magician feeling his back a little, that could be a worry for City, a second of the night after Mancini's been spotted with an ice pack on his head after his early bang.

21-08 : Ajax have a third, and finally we have a goal. Lyon now 6.2 to draw their game...

21-08 : Free header from Berbatov, but it's a simple save. A lot of reaction on the Twitter about United's performance, and they're coming in for some criticism, but I would have to say Galati are doing very well.

21-05 : Galati have done well tonight, massive underdogs but they're hanging in there. Quiet all over now on the goal front, not a lot happening.

21-02 : Back to Spain, comfortable would be the adjective I'd use. Under control, City stroke the ball round nicely in their own half.

21-00 : No goals as of yet in the second halves. Galati 16.5 to snatch a draw now, and they go close through Fruenza's shot, the sub firing 5 or 6 feet wide after a well struck effort. Closer.

21-00 : Anderson thinks he's scored, but what a clearance that is! Captain Costin gets back to slide and hack the Brazilians' clever chip over the keep, great commitment and execution from the big man.

20-59 : Mario Balotelli does, into the wall and out for a corner.

20-58 : Free kick after Silva shows some trickery on the edge of the Villarreal box. Who will take this one?

20-58 : Gavin Haddock asks the question, 'Is Kompany the most improved player over the last three years?' What are your thoughts?

20-55 : Berbatov blasts a decent shooting opportunity over the bar, really should have hit the target there. United come forward again though, constant pressure now with Galati only a threat on the break.

20-53 : De Gea punches clear under pressure, Galati haven't given this up yet. They've made a change, Ilie off and Frunza on, Romanians up and down the country hoping that can be a turning point.

20-51 : Villarreal appeal for a penalty now, but nothing doing and rightly so. They're come out fired up and ready to try and rescue this one. Odds are against them, however. United go close, Hernandez firing at Grahovac in the goal.

20-50 : Mario Gomez has a hat-rick in Munich, impressive stuff. All the games now up and running!

20-48 : United go close already, they'll be wanting to wrap this up early enough and are showing that with some early pressure.

20-47 : United kicking off earlier than City here, due to the penalty extending their stoppage time.

20-46 : Just getting underway again at ground across Europe, big 45 minutes in a fair few teams campaigns coming up. Where's your money?

Live Text : Wednesday's Football - The First Halves

22-44 : So we all know where we stand, take a move onto the other page as we'll head into the second halves. Get involved, and let's enjoy a good night of European football.

20-42 : City do lead, and they've done well, but large criticism coming in for Villarreal. Martin O'Neil states it's the poorest side he's ever seen in the Champions League. Ouch.

20-41 : Roy Keane on ITV : 'Look, he goes down easily. But listen, he's Italian, that's what he's going to do.' Classic Keane.

20-40 : City now at 1.06, United similar at 1.05. Both overwhelming favourites to win now you have to say. Other odds you might want to take a look at are Lyon 28/1 to win now against Real, and Basel 7.2 to earn a draw in Portugal.

20-37 : That is now half time everywhere, no goals that haven't been reported to update you on.

20-36 : Time for a quick run down on what we've seen so far then. United almost completely dominant, but a slender lead is all they've got at the break. City have a 2-0 lead, and from the replays of that penalty incident they are lucky to have it. That said, they have been the better side and do deserve to go in ahead.

20-34 : Games drawing to the break now all over the place, Napoli did pull one back through Fernandez a minute before hand though.

20-33 : It's a soft one, Mussachio's arm blocking Balotelli as he runs into the box. It's given despite protests, and Balotelli cooly dispatches it into the right hand corner. 2-0 half time, Manchester City in complete command.

20-32 : Half time at Old Trafford. And we've got a penalty for City at El Madrigal!

20-30 : Valencia and Toure remain the only scorers as we head into injury time. Anderson nearly joined them, but his weak footed effort slides wide.

20-28 : Almost! Galati break and it takes a smart stop from De Gea to keep out a deflected attempt on his goal. United counter attack themselves, Jones and Berbatov at the heart of it, but it's only a corner. Munich have a 3-0 lead against Napoli, rout.

20-27 : Approaching the breaks in most games now, and could there be a few more goals in these first halves...

20-25 : They're now a mere 1.25 to leave Spain with three points. United still searching for the second goal, but they're comfortable and content with the 1-0 lead at the moment.

20-24 : In Taylor Cross' words, City look 'frightening' when coming forward on the attack.

20-23 : Nearly a superb second for City, Nasri and Silva involved in unlocking the home side's back four, but the finish just can't be applied. Stunning passing, can they nick a second with only 5 minutes or so left of the half?

20-22 : Toure again skips around a few men, but is denied the chance to get a shot in. Meanwhile Evans has got a yellow card in Manchester.

20-20 : Blackpool have a third at Leeds, Shelvey striking again. United dominating in their game but just haven't found the elusive second goal. They'll be hoping to get it and avoid any nervous moments, just ask Chelsea from last night.

20-18 : Draw up to 5.6 now after Toure's intervention, with Villarreal all the way out at 17/1. Longshot, City growing in confidence all the time.

20-18 : Fabio goes on a surging run, beating a few men before being tackled. Enterprising play, let's see some more of the please. Madrid now lead Lyon, and both Ajax and Blackpool double their leads.

20-16 : Goal! Toure the man, and both Manchester teams lead 1-0. He gets free in the box and places a firm shot to the left of the keeper, who had no chance. A class finish. Man City 1-0 up.

20-15 : Comedy takes centre stage for a moment, as Mancini bangs his head on the dugout roof. Back to the football... Hernandez drags wide, good chance goes begging.

20-14 : It's finally blocked, and cleared accordingly. Villarreal threaten to break, Valero attempting a give and go on the edge of the box but loses it. Things livening up out there.

20-13 : Still lining it up. Back in England, Valencia has a decent effort blocked.

20-12 : HUGE chance for City, they're lining up a free kick just 20 yards out, right of centre...

20-12 : Bill James on Twitter makes the astute comment on how Villarreal's passing is looking very slick, and I have to say, City are struggling to get the ball back. Great atmosphere there too.

20-10 : Munich have double their lead, looking comfortable now.

20-09 : The draw in the City clash is down to 3.2, maybe worth a go?

20-09 : Half way through the games now, and we've had an interesting start. Man City and Villarreal both still feeling each other out in the early stages, but the opposite at United's ground as they lead against Galati already, and look like adding more. Inter, Ajax and Cardiff have all scored, giving them 1-0 leads.

20-07 : Very physical game at Old Trafford, with the ref letting a lot flow, which is good to see and allows for both sides to be committed.

20-05 : Not a huge amount happening in Spain, both sides taking it in turns to keep possession for a while. That said, Joselu just ran clear, but the flag is up. Munich lead Napoli in their game, the other one in this group.

20-04 : Blackpool have scored at Leeds, LuaLua the man.

20-02 : The little Mexican takes a harsh tackle moments after coming on. Welcome to the game, son.

20-00 : OH no. Disaster for United, and not a good sight for football fans. Owen is limping off, after less than 15 minutes. Hernandez on, and you've got to feel for the ex England star.

19-58 : United set to dominate? You bet. 1.03 to win now, almost seems too easy for a Champions League game.

19-58 : They take and short and lose it though, a let down.

19-57 : City more measured, as you'd expect away from home against talented opposition. Valero starts at attack for the hosts, and they've won a corner.

19-54 : Hang on... Otelul come charging forwards and nearly get a goal themselves, only for a header to drop just wide from numer 8, Antal.

19-52 : 8 minutes in, and we've got a goal. Manchester United up and running, as Jones' whips in a great cross from the right flank, and when Owen can't connect, it leaves Valencia free to tap into an empty net. Dream start.

19-51 : Benfica, in United's group, lead at home to Basel. The Swiss 32/1 to now turn that one around and win. Benfica top that group, coincidentally.

19-50 : Corner to United after decent pressure, but it's dealt with effectively, if not in a textbook manner by Rapa in the blue backline.

19-50 : Perez finds space out in Spain, testing Joe Hart with a decent effort. Early stages very cagey out there, will it be another typical Mancini away day set-up and performance?

19-48 : Ryan Cullen notes that maybe the Romanians will be pleased to see Rooney playing so deep, further away from their goal!

19-47 : Galati getting forward well early, showing they're not shy to wanting to pass it around. No danger though, United start solidly at the back.

19-45 : Teams are out, and we're up and running shortly after in both games involving the Manchester sides. I'm assuming we are elsewhere, or at least will be shortly.

Live Text : Wednesday's Football - The Build Up

19-44 : Time to end the talking, let's get onto the action! We've move onto the first half action post, so please do join us on there!

19-43 : City to be winning after 15 minutes? Whack a tenner on that and you've won 50 quid, tidy profit if you ask me.

19-41 : A few other tips flying around across Twitter, and ours would Lille to spring a surprise against Inter at the San Siro. 3.35 to draw, almost 5/1 to win it. The average age of that Inter team? Almost 32, a record. Experienced, or too old to compete with a fresh younger side?

19-39 : Rooney in a midfield role tonight, a big call from Ferguson, clearly feeling he has the talent to dominate the perceived weak opposition. Almost 5 minutes till kick off.

19-36 : Chris Leavy gets in early on the Tweet, saying how he'd 'love to see United open and and play like we did at the start of the season', going on the state that it could be 6 or 7 if they do. He's not wrong, Galati 65/1 to win this one.

19-34 : Teams news floating in now, Owen starting for United alongside Berbatov and Rooney, Ferdinand another notable starter. Man City, with all their riches and abundance of talent, opt for Balotelli in attack on his own, Milner, Nasri, Silva and Yaya Toure will be expected to provide the support from deep, with De Jong holding.

19-31 : Of course, it's not just those two games tonight. There's a host of other sides involved in Europe, how about Lyon hosting Madrid. The French are 6.4 to win that one. Benfica and Basel face off, Ajax and Inter playing in their respective groups, it's all happening. Championship football tonight sees Derby against Cardiff, and Leeds vs Blackpool. We'll fill you in on all the goals as they go in across all the games, not to mention the updates, odds checks and your views.

19-30 : Remember to get involved tonight! Usual stuff, either straight to @TacticalBet on Twitter, or through an appropriate tag, such as Champions League, or football.

19-28 : What of City then? They're in Spain to meet Villarreal, another side struggling in this competition. Mancini's men haven't exactly fired on all cylinders in this format. but still are favourites at 1.78. The draw, if you're interested, is 3.8

19-24 : Attention on United first, the Manchester side at home tonight. Old Trafford will be praying for a better performance than the last home tie, a 1-6 drubbing against... You know the rest. Their opponents? Romanian minnows Otelul Galati, yet to earn even a single point in this seasons campaign. So, surely a home banker if I've ever seen one. But stranger things have happened, remember Burton Albion drawing here in 2006? United 1.1 to win it, staggeringly high favourites.

19-20 : Last night our two London teams failed to step up to the plate, so can tonight's Manchester duo fly the flag in Europe? There's plenty of action to follow tonight in the Champions League, and not to forget two more games in the Championship. So do get involved, and with TacticalBet you know you'll be up to date with everything that occurs, as it happens.

Tuesday 1 November 2011

Tuesday's Football - Round Up

Champions League -

Genk 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea slipped up, as their slump continued. Ramires put them ahead as they dominated, but after Luiz missed a penalty they appeared to lose their way. Vossen's goal earned a deserved draw, and either side could've won it. Chelsea, despite this showing, are still clear favourites to qualify through top. They have 8, Leverkusen 6 points and Valencia 5, and a win against either will surely be enough.

Arsenal 0-0 Marseille

A really poor game at the Emirates, where both teams appeared to settle for a point. Ramsey, Walcott and Gervinho all had chances and good efforts, but none could make them count, and Remy and Ayew nearly made them pay at the other end. Both teams should qualify, so that perhaps explains the reasoning behind this tepid display. Arsenal top their group, but only by one point, so they'll be targeting 4 points to seal that top spot.

Elsewhere, Valencia won 3-1, Cypriot side Apoel gave a superb performance in beating Porto, and Barcelona moved into the last 16 with a demolition of 10 man Pizen.

In the Championship, Southampton moved 5 points clear at the top after a good win, and Middlesborough, Barnsley and Millwall all gained impressive wins. Nottingham Forest won 1-0 over Reading in another tight game. The solo match in League Two was won by Aldershot, who cruised home to a 2-0 defeat of Burton Albion.

Thanks for all the reading and contributing over tonight, it's always much appreciated. We'll be back tomorrow night in the same manner, when both Manchester teams are in Champions League action, with two Championship games also to look out for.

Live Text : Tuesday's Football - Second Half Action

20-42 : So that's the end of tonight's action, barring the Crystal Palace vs Portsmouth game which started at 8. Check back to the site for the round-up, and tomorrow night for the next installment of action! Thanks for all your contributions, you've been great.

20-39 : Paul Gallagher notes on Twitter that he's lost a £50 bet that there would be over 2.5 goals in the Chelsea-Genk clash! I can safely say a fair few punters have lost money there, a shock result in a draw there.

20-37 : Barcelona hit a fourth goal, a romp for them over Pizen. Messi has a hat-rick, now isn't that a familiar sentence. Full times all over the place, no more goals that haven't been reported yet.

20-36 : Luiz fires wide, and that will be that. 1-1, Chelsea again un-inspiring and labour to a point. Arsenal do the same, 0-0 their result.

20-35 : Apoel concede, Hulk getting Porto level. Clearly not happy, the Cyrus side charge upfield and earn another goal, they now lead 2-1. Great stuff.

20-34 : Close! Malouda's shot cleared off the line in Belgium, Chelsea go so near to a late winner. Back come Genk now, neither side seems to want a draw, and fair play to them for it.

20-33 : Straight into the wall, but it's not cleared and Van Persie drills in a dangerous ball which is well dealt with.

20-33 : 35 yards out, 92nd minute, and Arsenal have a free-kick within range...

20-31 : Heading into injury time. Arsenal look set to draw, and perhaps more surprisingly so do Chelsea. Lampard flashes over. Peterborough have pulled one back, they trail 2-1 at St Mary's.

20-30 : ANOTHER dreadful cross and it's ANOTHER waste! Too many corners and free kicks have been woeful tonight, I suggest some extra practice.

20-29 : Genk surging forward with a refreshing determination to get a win here. Free kick out wide, great opportunity to whip a ball across and see what happens. Vossen, the goalscorer, is withdrawn. Can they make something of this? Millwall have a third.

20-27 : Van Persie wins a corner... dangerous but punched clear.

20-26 : Torres has been very average, giving the ball away numerous times. That said, he's not had a great deal of service. Hull have pulled one back, and Watford now lead Brighton.

20-24 : Marseille's corners have been shocking, and that really is a bad one from Gonzalez. Sturridge forces a save in Belgium, but then disaster almost strikes as Cech has to sprint out his goal and block a goalbound shot from Limbonde.

20-23 : Forest are ahead again Reading, a slender 1-0 lead into the last moments. Genk call on one of their subs, and I must say they've done well tonight. Underdogs, and behind, but they've battled and look on their way to a big point.

20-22 : Huge shifts in tempo in both games, we're in for a barnstorming last ten minutes. Marseille still 9/1, can they nick it?

20-21 : Franco Annondale claims Chelsea have put in a 'shocking performance', and he's not all wrong. Chance! Ayew heads wide at the Emirates, that would've been a shock to Arsenal's system.

20-20 : Henderson's at it again, Millwall 2-0 up now. No quality in either Champions League games at the moment, but all four sides cranking up the pressure in attempts to garner a winner out of these last ten minutes.

20-18 : Genk 9.6 to win it?! At one stage, they were up and over 35. Romeu is off for Mata, interesting choice...

20-17 : Jack Finnamore has roundly turned on Torres on Twitter, stating his 'frustration' about Chelsea's 'obsession' with him. Sub o'clock now, Arsharvin on for Gervinho and Mata preparing. Valencia 3-1 up, Barcelona 3-0, it's a better night for the Spanish sides, that's for sure.

20-15 : Looks like Mata is the final Chelsea player to be called forward from the bench. Torres to go off? He's had another one of his statuesque performances so far, which sadly are becoming all too often for Chelsea fans.

20-14 : Chelsea up to 56% possession now, but not creating anything of note. The draw the favoured results there now, but I feel something might change in at least one of the game.

20-13 : A corner is about as exciting as things get in the Arsenal - Marseille game, where still nothing is happening. Draw at 1.83, going down all the time...

20-11 : 20 minutes to go, and things are starting to hot up nicely. Valencia are ahead, meaning Chelsea are in trouble if they fail to win. Leicester have extended their lead, 3-1 over Burnley now, and so do Barnsley and M'Boro, all three Championship sides now having 2 goal leads.

20-10 : Vikram Maan makes a interesting point on Twitter, who notes that West Brom reserves have just beaten Chelsea's, 4-0.

20-08 : Sadly, still nothing is happening there, and the draw is now the favourite at 2.1. Chelsea looking to regain their lead, pushing forward more. Lampard and Sturridge preparing to come on for them, on for Anelka and Ramires, who was Chelsea's best player tonight, without doubt.

20-07 : Van Persie's on for the Gunners, greeted by rapturous cheers from the home faithful.

20-06 : Barnsley have double their own lead now, and Leicester are back ahead with Nugent the man in the goals, netting in the 54th minute.

20-05 : Now there's a shock. Draw rockets down to under 3, and Genk are now only 9.2 to go on and win the game!

20-03 : And Genk are level! Luiz will be as sick as a parrot now, and a nice move results in their first goal in the Champions League. Vossen, his 11th of the season, puts away a neat cut-back, left unmarked 6 yards out.

20-02 : Genk pushing, and the draw is down to almost 8 now, a sign of the threat they pose. Marseille go close, Cheyrou just failing to connect when well placed.

21-01 : Millwall are leading Coventry now, Henderson striking. More goals coming in that league, but overall there aren't many to speak of tonight.

20-58 : Remy would score at the Emirates, but doesn't get the chance as the flag rules him offside. Both games becoming a little nervy, Torres heads over. Well over.

20-56 : Massive chance in Belgium... For Genk! Nwanganga is suddenly clean through, but Cech sprawls to the rescue. The home side really pressing now, with two more corners coming in.

20-54 : Barnsley lead Hull, who had earlier missed a penalty. With Chelsea only 1-0 up, the draw at 9.2 isn't completely gone yet. Ayew fires wide at the Emirates, Marseille yet to really threaten.

20-53 : It is Luiz, but it goes high over the crossbar. It's just not his night, will somebody please let the poor man know he's a centre back.

20-51 : Gervinho burst into the box but it denied by a last ditch tackle. More urgency by the hosts, which is well received by the crowd. Free kick to Chelsea in a dangerous area, will Luiz fancy this one too?

20-50 : Paul Kelly notes on Twitter that Marseille do appear now defensive, will they settle for a point?

20-48 : Genk up to 50/1 to win, as that game in Belgium starts. Comments being thrown around that Malouda should've taken the penalty, he's taken numerous ones for France. Chelsea need to move on and secure the result though, the past is history.

20-45 : Back under-way now, and this is slowly becoming the case everywhere, except that one game that kicked off at 8. Pantelis on Twitter notes for Cypriot side Apoel could be 'writing history' if they can hold on and defeat Porto.

20-44 : Arsenal have been on top I'd say, but in a tight game it could be decided by a single goal. Both back fours will need to be in control if their respective teams are going to produce results.

20-42 : Emnes puts M'Boro 2-1 up, they've completed a first half turnaround at the Keepmoat. Still very few goals in that league, here's to hoping for more!

20-42 : That really was far too casual from Luiz, and I still don't know what he was doing taking it. Centre forwards are paid to score, and I can't help but feel one of them should've taken the responsibility.

20-40 : Just watching a few replays, and Ramires' goal really was a nice move. Fernando Torres played a huge part, a lovely assist. Not much highlights to talk of with Arsenal, but Gervinho and Walcott have gone close.

Live Text : Tuesday's Football - First Half Action

20-38 : First half action, done. Look above for the new post, we'll head towards the second half. I'm sure there is plenty of goals left in tonight, and certainly drama!

20-36 : Odds check now, Arsenal again continuing to move towards 2.1, and Chelsea sure favourites at a meagre 1.44. The draw at the Emirates is at 2.85, with the away team a 7/1 shot to win...

20-35 : Messi's scored again just before the break, his second meaning Barcelona now lead 2-0. Can't see them losing that one...

20-33 : Into injury time in both games, and Genk go close through a free kick from their captain which just flies over. It's half time there now, and at Arsenal. Apoel lead Porto, and Aldershot double their lead Gutteridge the man finding the net.

20-30 : Aldershot lead in League Two, one up on Burton Albion. Furious reaction to Luiz on Twitter, Niko saying he's 'sure they're are better takers out there'. However, I'm reading reports Koteles is well known for being a penalty specialist, so we'll give him some credit.

20-29 : Both sides at the Emirates are struggling in the final third, big time. First Ramsey for the hosts, then Remy on the other side push forward and our in space, but both dally and the opportunity is wasted.

20-27 : Prior to that, Meireles had struck the bar with a sweet strike. I'd love to tell you about action in the Arsenal game, but there is none.

20-26 : The enigma that is Luiz strikes again, why didn't Torres, Malouda or Anelka take it? Luiz stuttered, and his shot to the keepers left wasn't high or low, a nice height for Koteles to palm it away.

20-25 : Malouda crosses, and it strikes an arm. Harsh if you ask me, but you do have to admit it does make contact with the arm. Mental scenes after it, with David Luiz bizarrely stepping up to take it. He hits a very poor penalty, and it's saved!

20-24 : Penalty at the Cristal Arena, handball given. I've not yet seen a replay.

20-22 : M'Boro are level against Doncaster, Robson on 30 minutes with the goal. A lull at the Emirates, in all honesty not a lot is happening.

20-21 : Cole crosses, and Ramires heads about two feet wide. Decent chance, and maybe he'll feel he should have scored. Solomon Hayes certainly thinks so over on Twitter.

20-20 : The Belgians are looking like they might cause a few problems in the wide areas against Chelsea, very much pinning back Cole and Bosingwa into their own halves. Past the 35 minute marks in both games, and it remains Chelsea 1-0 Genk, and Arsenal 0-0 Marseille.

20-18 : Pizen are down to ten after that penalty, a straight red card shown to the offender. Bayer Leverkusen are level against Valencia, cancelling out that earlier goal.

20-17 : Genk now out to 36.5...

20-17 : Burnley are level, Wallace with the goal. Arsenal should be ahead, but Ramsey takes too long to shoot and a block is made.

20-15 : Arsenal's passing struggling to break down the French sides solid defence, and their biggest threat is coming through long efforts. Gervinho fires at goal again, Mandanda parries out. Good effort.

20-14 : Good response from Genk, forcing a corner here after some physical play in the Chelsea box.

20-12 : A little earlier, Barcelona had taken the lead, Messi with a penalty. They are 1-0 over Pizen.

20-11 : Chelsea lead over Genk, and Ramires links well with Torres to put them ahead. A chipped ball over the top put the Brazilian clear, and with Genk's defence looking very square, Ramires finished on the half-volley across the keeper.

20-10 : Arsenal getting longer odds all the time, and despite now being high and still remaining favourites, they're almost up to 2's.

20-09 : Goals flying in now in the Championship, Leicester now in front at Turf Moor.

20-08 : Genk looking decent here, or better than they when Chelsea thumped them 5-0 at home. Atmosphere sounding fantastic. Walcott cuts inside for Arsenal, but can't create a notable chance.

20-05 : Genk force a half-chance, but Nadson's free header is easily saved. Meanwhile, Southampton have doubled their lead.

20-04 : Two goals now, as predicted earlier! Doncaster lead M'Boro at home, with Southampton, who currently top the table, also scoring through Chaplow to take the lead.

20-03 : Opta reports Valencia's goal isn't the fastest, that came 0.3 seconds quicker.

20-02 : No goals in the Championship to report yet, but I'm sure that will chance soon...

20-02 : Gervinho drives forward but his low shot is straight at Mandanda and easily saved. Enterprising play, but a poor end product from the Ivorian.

20-01 : Cole's teasing cross is well cut out by a Genk defender, and it's eventually cleared. The Blues on top now, dominating possession.

20-00 : Callum Vurley's views on Twitter now, he says - 'Chelsea have decided to drop 5 players tonight, could be dangerous playing away when Lampard looks lethal?'

19-58 : Arsenal get themselves a set-piece, but again it's wasted and easily cleared.

19-57 : Dortmund now have the lead in their home game against Olympiakos. Meanwhile on Twitter Phil McNulty notes how Marseille have come out looking intend on attacking, and look like they could threaten tonight.

19-55 : Walcott surges forwards, and is denied by a good save from Mandanda in the away goal. Top stop, The Gunners starting to look dangerous and get into their stride.

19-54 : Corner to Marseille, but they waste it with a poor delivery. Got to do better in those situations, a good chance to test Arsenal's defence.

19-53 : David Luiz commits a silly foul over at the Cristal Arena, how many times have we heard that before?

19-52 : , in Chelsea's group, already lead. Jonas' goal at 9 seconds, is rumoured to be the fastest ever in the competition. We'll try and establish whether that's a real record soon!

19-51 : Chance in Belgium, but the offside flag is up. The home side's neat and tidy build up thwarted as Vossen had strayed past the last defender, and his shot was tame at Cech anyway.

19-50 : Marseille pushing high up, and looking like they're more than up for this one. The French look a big side, could be a threat at set-pieces.

19-47 : Chelsea in black tonight, as the hosts appear in blue. Over at the Emirates, Arsenal are in their usual attire, and already showing off some slick passing.

19-45 : We're off in both games, and up and down the country in the Championship.

Live Text : Tuesday's Football - The Build Up

19-44 : All the teams out, and we're ready to go. See above for the live commentary on all the first half action, and be sure to get involved!

19-42 : Marseille look set to play just the one man in attack for their game over Arsenal, with Remy set to lead the line alone. Defensive move? Arsenal will be hoping they can strike early and force their opponents to open up as the game goes on.

19-41 : Just over 5 minutes till most games will kick off, although there is one exception, Palace hosting Portsmouth in the Championship will start at 8-00.

19-38 : From InfostradaLive on Twitter - 'Chelsea are starting a CL game with only 1 Englishman in their starting team for the 3rd time in 10 years.' This is due to Terry and Lampard being on the bench, Cole is that one in question.

19-33 : It's lashing it down in Belgium at Genk. The home side have said they expect a crowd of around 25'000, and it should be a good atmosphere there.

19-31 : We're looking forward to hearing from you tonight as well, so by all means get involved! Send us a tweet at @TacticalBet, or just use an appropriate # before your thoughts, and we'll get them up on here.

19-30 : Odds changing all the time of course, and we'll try and keep you up to date with all the changes as they happen. Right now, Arsenal slightly slipping out after the news RVP won't start, draw at 3.8 looking a more common bet, although the Gunners are still favourites.

19-27 : The is, as mentioned, a load of action in the Championship too, Notts Forest at home to Reading and rock bottom Bristol City travelling to the formidable Upton Park two of the main attractions. One game in League Two tonight, Aldershot host Burton Albion.

19-25 : Team news now in our feature two games, the two English sides in action in Europe. Chelsea make a host of changes, Luiz and Romeu the notable ones, they come in for Terry and Mikel. Up top, the Blues opt for Torres and Anelka, supported with Florent Malouda. Arsenal bring in Jenkinson, and also give Park Chu Young a rare start, with Van Persie to main absentee, he's rested and on the bench.

19-22 : Time to tie a few loose ends up, by way of some results which were completed earlier. BATE held AC Milan to a 1-1, a result which means Barcelona can steal the lead of that group. Zenit won 1-0 over Shakhtar in Russia, and they now top group G.

19-20 : It's been a 'disastrous week' for Chelsea apparently, so can they bounce back tonight with a win at Genk? They're massive favourites at 1.31. Arsenal, the architects of Villas Boas' and Chelsea's downfall on Saturday, face Marseille at home, again expected to win at 1.78. But, it's the Champions League, and anything can happen, and how both teams could really do with wins to push home their positions in respective groups. Also in action tonight are numerous Championship games, and one from League Two, while big sides such as Porto, Valencia and Dortmund are all in European action.
