2011/2012 Barclays Premier League Predictions

With the new Barclays Premier League season just days away, TacticalBet's Harry and Jonathan thought it would be good to give their views on the teams competing this year, and their predictions for finishing spots. Enjoy!

Arsenal
H:
Not a hope of winning the title, surely. Defence was poor last year, and the personnel remains the same. Will do well to secure a champions league place. 4th
J: With the impending losses of Fabregas and Nasri and no new personnel to sure up a shaky looking defence, they will find it tough to reach a top four slot. 5th

Aston Villa

H: Under Alex Mcleish, nobody knows what to expect. Downing’s gone, but N'Zogbia’s a fine replacement, so they’ll hit mid-table safety. 11th
J: Downing and Young have gone and the fans don't like the manager, but N'Zogbia and Given are smart buys. Expect them to be up there. 8th

Blackburn Rovers
H: The jury’s still out on Steve Keen, this could well be the defining season in his career. Must keep Samba to stay up. 15th
J: Keeping Samba would help their cause no doubt but a lack of signings and an inexperienced manager will not help their cause. In a real scrap this year but will just survive. 17th

Bolton

H: Owen Coyle's building a growing reputation, and as it stands they've kept Gary Cahill, so will remain hard to beat. Watch out for new boy Chris Eagles, a fine purchase at 1.5 million. 12th
J: Coyle has made unspectacular signings but his best bit of business may be keeping Chaill at the club for the time being. A chance at hitting the top ten has been ruled out by long-term injuries to Mears and Lee. 12th

Chelsea

H: Never rule out Chelsea, and under their new boss Villas Boas their ageing squad wi
ll be keen to show they've still got it, and you can expect them to challenge. 2nd
J: An ageing squad and no huge 'first-team signings' will hamper there title bid. Expect them to challenge under new boss Andre Villas Boas, but the title seems just out of reach. 3rd

Everton

H:
Consistent as ever, expect them to topple a few big guns on their way to another solid season under the stewardship of David Moyes. 7th
J: Everton have the players, maybe barring another striker, to challenge for European places. Problem is they never start well. If they do, a good season is in the offing. 7th

Fulham

H:
Martin Jol's a good manager, and in Dempsey, Murphy and Johnson they've got talent. Possibly a push for Europe, but they've got a lot of fixtures to play. 9th
J: Have kept their squad mostly together and this will help them gain a top 10 spot. 9th

Liverpool
H:
Henderson, Carroll, Downing and Suarez will improve them, but have recently finished 7th and 6th, don’t expect too much at once. 5th
J: Dalglish says new English signings have brought a 'feel-good factor' back to Anfield. Will likely be battling Arsenal and Spurs to 4th place, meaning there game against Arsenal on the second weekend of the season is huge, as a good start is imperative. 4th

Manchester City

H: Ever improving, but still not ready for a title push. Will need to bring in more ruthlessness in order to challenge. 3rd
J: If new £35 mllion signing Aguero adapts and starts to hit form, with the squad they already have, they will mount a serious title challenge. 2nd

Manchester United

H: They've got the experience, and with the additions made of Young and Jones, they must be favourites yet again. 1st
J: A good mix of experienced trophy winners with vibrant young prospects. Squad looks deeper then last year so clearly favourites for a 20th title. 1st

Newcastle United

H: Looks like they’ll struggle, what with no Nolan and Carroll, but should have enough about them to keep their heads above water. 14th
J: Turmoil surrounds Newcastle at the moment. Not a penny of the £35 million received for Carroll has been spent, a woeful pre-season, talisman Nolan has left for West Ham, and both Barton and Enrique have spoken out against the clubs owners. Should just have enough to keep them in the league and Cabaye looks a good buy. 15th

Norwich

H: 7 players signed, and with a Champions League winner as their manager, we’re backing them to survive, just. 17th
J: Have signed a lot of players and clearly Paul Lambert is a great manager, but sadly cant see them getting many points. 20th

Queens Park Rangers

H: Is Warnock really cut out for this level? Failed his first test at Sheffield United, and signings like Kieron Dyer won’t boost confidence. 18th
J: Have kept Tarrabt which is huge for there chances. Have a solid defence and expect them to dip their hands into their filled pockets with a few more signings. 16th

Stoke

H: Another constant improver, additions like Woodgate and Upson are extremely clever. 8th
J:
Tony Pulis has added Upson and Woodgate to help bolster his defence and they should expect another good season. However be wary of the fact they are playing in Europe. Will that take too much out of them? 10th

Sunderland

H: They've signed no less that 10 players already, so surely expect some improvement. Steve Bruce knows what he’s doing, a solid bet for mid-table. 10th
J: Steve Bruce has added a whole new team to his squad. If the players gel well as a team they will have a good season, because they have the quality with the likes of Gyan. 11th

Swansea City

H: This seasons new Blackpool? They play nice football, but we all know that doesn't win you points automatically. Will need an ‘enforcer’ to help out at the back. 20th
J: Brendan Rogers likes to play nice football, but it will be interesting to see if he keeps to that mantra when things get tough. 19th

Tottenham Hotspur
H: Struggling the compete as the transfer fees crank up a notch. Keep Modric and 5th is an option, lose him and they’re in trouble. 6th
J: Keeping Modric has been a priority and now they seemingly have kept him, their midfield is capable of challenging for top four. Unfortunately still lacking a 20-goal a season striker and need to cut out defensive lapses if they're to challenge. 6th

West Bromwich Albion

H: Shane Long’s just joined, which offers them some much needed firepower. Another team who will stay up, but un-spectacularly. 13th
J: Signing Shane Long would be a masterstroke and would improve there attack no doubt. Hodgson will have them organised at the back as well. 13th

Wigan Athletic

H: A colossal struggle last season ended in triumph, but with no real signings and the loss of Cleverly and N'Zogbia, don’t expect there to be a let up. 19th
J: The loss of N'Zogbia is huge and they haven't replaced him with a similar type of player. Woefully short of quality at the back. 18th

Wolverhampton Wanderers

H: Cut it fine last year, but have the players to avoid trouble this year. New captain Roger Johnson has a huge role to play. 16th
J: Look a decent side now and the signing of Johnson will add leadership to their defence. 14th
